Ingredients with a purpose

Pawberry Fields - Naturally Real - for the love of our pets.

What’s in YOUR food?  Like many others, you have most likely dedicated a lot of time and energy into knowing  the facts about what goes into your body. If your pet is a family member, it’s only natural to direct that same effort into knowing exactly what goes into his/her  food.
Our ingredient lists are short, simple, and natural because no one should have to read between the lines when it comes to the facts. We utilize the  beneficial  qualities of all natural ingredients to offer your pet a treat that does more than make tails wag and cats purr. Here are the "whats" and "whys" of our ingredients...

Oats and Oat Flour
Why Oats?

Because oats contain a higher concentration  of protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, thiamine, folacin and vitamin E than any other unfortified whole grain. Oats are high in fiber, amino acids, and lipids which contain a great balance of essential fatty acids, promoting overall good health.  Oat and Rice flours are used in our wheat-less  treats. These would be the appropriate treats for dogs with wheat, corn or soy allergies.

Organic Wheat Flour

Why Wheat Flour?

Because whole wheat flour is packed with nutrients including protein, fiber, B vitamins, antioxidants, and trace minerals (iron, zinc, copper, and magnesium) Did you know that most of the wheat flours used in commercial foods and treats are not suitable for healthy human consumption?

Cinnamon

Why Cinnamon?

Cinnamon has antimicrobial, antifungal, and astringent properties as well as anti-clotting and anti-inflammation properties. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, cinnamon can be used to ease joint pain and stiffness in dogs suffering from arthritis.  For dogs with diabetes, cinnamon can help regulate blood sugar levels.  Cinnamon has been used to alleviate pain due to some cancers in dogs, especially bone cancer.

Blackstrap Molasses

Why Blackstrap Molasses?

Because molasses are full of beneficial minerals such as iron, copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, as well as vitamin B6. We use only blackstrap molasses because they contain the highest potassium levels, which help with blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems.

Honey
Why Honey?

Because honey is already predigested by bees! It can be easily digested and the nutrients easily absorbed into the blood of  its consumer. Its therapeutic properties hinder the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the dog's digestive system. The live enzymes in honey help in the proper functioning of a dog's digestive system. Regular consumption of honey has proved beneficial to both humans and canines suffering from arthritis!

Brown Rice/Brown Rice Flour

Why Brown Rice Flour?

Brown rice is more beneficial than white rice because the outer hull, which contains the nutrients, is not stripped away as it is with white rice production.  Brown rice is an excellent source of fiber, manganese, selenium, and magnesium. Rice flour is a particularly good substitute for wheat flour when allergies prevent wheat intake.
